Electronics Recycling Event returns August 8 at new Fairgrounds location
Mark your calendars! The City of Lawrence’s 2026 Electronics Recycling Event will be held on Saturday, August 8, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, 2120 Harper Street.
This free event (with fees for select tvs and monitors) is open to all Douglas County residents and provides a convenient way to responsibly recycle old, unwanted, and unused electronics. This year’s event is sponsored again by Teknix Solutions, who will help collect and process electronic waste safely and sustainably.
Last year’s success
The Electronics Recycling Event has become an important opportunity for residents to keep old technology out of the landfill. At the 2025 event, more than 1,077 vehicles came through, helping recycle 70,085 pounds of electronics, which is more than 35 tons of old tech diverted from the landfill.

Teknix Solutions will also help ensure electronics are handled securely. Electronics received by Teknix will be securely destroyed on site or wiped clean using NIST 800-88 standards, helping protect both personal data and the environment.
