Bead Electronics Resumes Manufacturing Just Weeks After Devastating Storm Damage

Fifth-generation Connecticut manufacturer credits employees, customers and partners with helping the company recover quickly and resume production.

MILFORD, CT, UNITED STATES, September 14, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Bead Industries, Inc. announced that its Bead Electronics manufacturing operation is back in production and ramping up capacity following severe storm damage that brought operations to a complete halt on August 13.

The powerful storm cell, with winds reported in excess of 100 mph, caused extensive damage to Bead’s manufacturing facility at 11 Cascade Boulevard. The roof was ripped from a large portion of the building, the front of the adjoining warehouse collapsed, inventory and shipping areas were damaged, and the storm severed the facility’s main fire sprinkler line, flooding the factory and office areas.”.

Remarkably, no other building along the surrounding industrial street sustained comparable damage, leaving Bead’s facility as the apparent focal point of the storm’s destruction.

Most importantly, no employees were in the building when the storm struck, and no one was injured.

The damage immediately took the company offline. The facility was without electricity while structural engineers, building officials, remediation crews and contractors worked to stabilize the property. Portions of the damaged warehouse had to be emptied and demolished, walls were reinforced, the roof was temporarily repaired, water and mold remediation was completed, and manufacturing equipment was cleaned, evaluated and tested before employees could safely return.

At the same time, the company established temporary warehousing and shipping operations nearby to maintain as much customer support as possible.

After 19 business days without production, electricity was restored, employees regained safe access to the facility, and Bead Electronics began restarting its manufacturing equipment.

“We knew from the first morning that our number one priority—after making sure everyone was safe—was getting this business operating again as quickly as humanly possible,” said Jill Mayer, CEO of Bead Industries. “There were days when the amount of work ahead of us felt overwhelming, but our team never stopped moving forward.”

For Mayer, the recovery carried particular significance. Bead Industries is a fifth-generation family business, with a manufacturing history stretching back more than a century.

“This wasn’t just about repairing a building,” Mayer said. “It was about protecting a fifth-generation family business, taking care of the people who depend on it, and making sure we could continue serving customers who depend on the parts we manufacture.”

From the first hours following the storm, Bead engaged its insurance carrier, structural engineers, remediation specialists, contractors and local officials. Employees worked alongside outside partners to recover inventory, reorganize operations, clean and prepare equipment, establish temporary work areas and tackle each obstacle as it arose.

The company is now producing parts on many of its machines and steadily bringing additional equipment and capacity online. Employees are working additional hours and overtime where practical as Bead addresses the backlog created during the shutdown.

“We still have a backlog to work through and plenty of work ahead, but seeing our machines running and parts coming off the line again is a pretty incredible sight,” Mayer said.

She credits the rapid recovery to the determination of Bead’s employees and the support the company received from customers, suppliers, contractors, first responders, local officials, and the manufacturing community.

“Our employees demonstrated an incredible level of resilience, loyalty and teamwork,” Mayer said. “They showed up every day ready to solve the next problem and do whatever was necessary to get us closer to reopening.”

Mayer also expressed appreciation for customers who worked with Bead throughout the interruption.

“We are deeply grateful to our customers who stuck with us, showed patience and understanding, and continued to support us while we worked around the clock to recover,” she said.
